We understand that success in modern jiu-jitsu is built on the foundations of a strong team and not just an individual. Our team was forged from a desire to embrace excellence alongside other skilled individuals who share a passion for grappling, creating a decentralised environment built on merits and the daily pursuit of excellence. ​
​Our Pro Team, comprised of some of the state's finest competitors, train, teach and grow together, fostering an environment where every member that works alongside them can thrive. This is a group that has forged their relationship both on and off the mats, as friends and now family.
​
​We believe that the goal is just as important as how and who we got there with. So, this group of individuals are not just our instructors, but they are proudly our leaders, role models and the family in which we trust to guide us to excellence.
​
You will find at least one, if not multiple Pro Team members instructing or training at every scheduled classes, ensuring a quality training room no matter the time of day. ​

Jason Phi
Founder & Program Director
"Phi" AKA "Captain"
Having founded Atlantic as a full-time physiotherapy clinic in 2020, he discovered that the best method to make an impact on people's lives was prevention not rehab. ​
​
With Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as his new found passion it provided a method to this cause.
The Captain leads the charge with a competition record of 64-6, a 92% submission rate and having achieved his purple belt in just under 3 years of training.
​
He attributes the swiftness of his success to the quality of his peers, his relevant tertiary education and his approach to learning; with over 15 years of experience in training, competing and coaching across a variety of athletic pursuits. His independence with his learning proved to him that there was room to optimise the way jiu-jitsu is traditionally approached today.
Thus, giving rise to the Atlantic Grappling Team.

Our in-house lead physiotherapist, strength and conditioning coach and the man that brings all the laughs.
​
A man of many talents, having trained alongside the Captain for the majority of their younger years, he has quickly become the trusted man who keeps all our athletes in check, off the mats.
​
He oversees all matters that keeps our athletes on the mats and performing at their absolute best. You will find him active in the boxing ring year round if not grappling with the best of us.

Samuel Cutajar
"CooTS"
The man behind NEMEA and the one responsible for our signature look.

Hailing from the Gold Coast and now residing here in Brisbane, our resident big man brings all the intensity from the renowned Carlson Gracie lineage.
Come prepared, because if there's one thing for sure, intensity and banter come hand in hand with Sam.
​​
Like the rest of the Pro Team, he blazed through the competition scene ​and realised there's more to be done to take the step to the next level.
Having been a big supporter of the vision since day one and a natural born leader, he became an inevitable core member of the AGT system.

He is both undefeated and boasts a complete submission win streak since joining AGT.​

With Atlantic he has been achieving greatness more than ever before with a full time training schedule and the support to take him to the world stage.

Our gentleman, our poet and the last to join the Pro Team.

Unamuno is the embodiment of modern jiujitsu and the next generation of grapplers who will make their mark.
​
At just 22 years of age, this brown belt has achieved jaw dropping wins against the best of the best in Australia's Black Belt Ranks and he's only just now giving it everything that he has.
​
We're happy this young man is on our team, because we'd hate to come up against this 99kg+ weapon on any given day.
This is a man of the future, and the future is now.
